Job Description:
The Department of Professional Education Programs of The Esteves School of Education at Russell Sage College invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track faculty position (Professor of the Practice) at the rank of Assistant Professor of Education, Physical Education and Health Education, effective for Academic Year 2024/2025. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Teaching load of 21-load-credits per academic year (Fall and Spring semesters).
Advising students in the undergraduate physical education program and graduate school health education program
Service and scholarship/professional accomplishment appropriate for a non-tenure track position at a teaching institution through the lens of the Boyer Model.
The estimated base academic year salary for this position is $50,000, commensurate with experience.

Physical Education Teacher

Saint Gregory's is seeking a Physical Education and Health Teacher for the 2024-2025 school year to serve students in pre-kindergarten through grade 8. Saint Gregory’s School, certified by the New York State Association of Independent Schools (NYSAIS), is a Pre-K3 through eighth grade independent, Catholic school outside Albany, NY.

This position requires the ability to foster an environment of sportsmanship, health and exercise, and age appropriate gamesmanship. The position will require the teaching and development of skills related to physical fitness, appropriate social and emotional regulation, and the building of skill, strength, technique, poise, group dynamic, and the understanding of rules related to physical activities and sports.

This position may also require the teaching of New York State’s health course for middle school students. Additionally, the position may be asked to take on administrative duties related to our athletics program.

A Bachelor's Degree or higher and successful working experience with elementary and middle school students in a creative and high energy manner are preferred.

Candidates should have excellent oral, written and organizational skills as well as being comfortable with technology in the classroom. Job Description for Assistant Professor in Health and Wellness Studies

The Decker College of Nursing and Health Sciences (DCONHS), Division of Health and Wellness Studies, invites applications for an Assistant Professor position with a strong background in Nutrition, Exercise Physiology, Health Promotion, or another health-related field. We are seeking applicants with a broad background in health-related fields for flexibility in teaching courses in our general education program, academic minor, and Bachelor's program in Health Science. This full-time, tenure-track faculty position is at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning in Fall 2024. We are seeking applicants with expertise in a transdisciplinary approach to teaching and research, program development, grant writing, and connections with local agencies for intern placement.

The successful candidate should possess strong evaluation research interest and capability. Collaborative qualities of the candidate are essential as evidenced by previous work on collaborative grant applications, projects and community connections.

Preference is given to those who have taught at the graduate level and have some experience teaching health-related pre-professionals in an online environment. The position may require teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels, as well as faculty responsibilities such as advising, committee responsibilities, scholarship, and service to the school and university. Experience with a variety of technologies to support on-line as well as in class teaching is preferred. Participation and membership in professional organizations is encouraged.

Salary and benefits are competitive and commensurate with experience and academic preparation. The Division of Health and Wellness emphasizes teaching, research, and service. We anticipate beginning applicant review as soon as possible. The position reports to the Director of Health and Wellness Studies.

Requirements

Qualified applicants must hold an earned doctorate (PhD) or terminal degree in a health-related field such as Doctorate in Health Education/Public Health, Doctorate in Chiropractic (DC), Doctorate in Exercise Science, or Doctorate in Physical Therapy. ABD candidates will be considered. Certifications as a Registered Dietician (RD) or Certified Health Education Specialists (CHES) are encouraged. A minimum of 3 years of teaching in a higher education setting is required.
